Jessica Harvey, 22, last week fought and landed the largest swordfish caught on a rod and reel by a female angler in the last 30 years and one of the largest ever on record in Isla Mujeres,.

The daughter of marine impresario Dr. Guy Harvey, Jessica, as part of her father’s Guy Harvey Expeditions Team was in Isla Mujeres, Mexico last week to film the renowned whale shark aggregations as part of a new documentary. Ms. Harvey, an IGFA Jr. World Record holder, took a break from filming to fish with Capt. Anthony Mendillo and the crew of Keen M Sportfishing, , where she hooked, fought and landed a 600-plus-pound swordfish. She hooked the fish 15 miles offshore in 1,550 feet of water on conventional tackle and battled it for nearly three hours. The catch is a new record for Isla Mujeres.

The entire adventure was captured on film by George Schellenger and Greg Jacoski of the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation.
